hello!

My name is Lisa Oberlander and I am the new CIE art teacher here at South Miami K-8 Center. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I am happy to be here and PLORK (Play, Learn, and Work) with you all!
Although I have been teaching with all of the different media you can find in Art for 28 years, my passion is photography. You can see some of my work by visiting my website.
about
This year, we will be doing all sorts of amazing things. We’ll learn about different cultures, color theory, art, and drawing techniques.
One of my goals is that all students will build on their knowledge and skills each year. It is very important that students learn and practice building their capability to solve problems creatively, which is a highly sought-after skill in today’s world.
The class expectations are below. Please review and talk about them with your students.
-
Respect other people, their things, and the classroom space.
-
Complete all assignments with integrity
-
Think like an artist.
-
Smile a lot!
If students are having significant trouble following the expectations, I will be sure to let you know so that we can work on a solution together. I believe that for students to be successful at school, we need to work as a team. Please feel free to contact me at any time with concerns or questions about your child’s art education.
My hope is that your child will have the absolute best art class experience possible, gain new skills and confidence throughout the year.
With only best regards,
Lisa Oberlander
