  • Serving on our board

  • Helping to write grant proposals

  • Updating our Facebook and Youtube pages

  • Fundraising during our after-school sales day

  • Inviting artists to participate in our guest artist program

  • Donating drinks and snacks for our afterschool sales day

  • Delivering artworks

  • Learning to cut mats for art shows

  • Helping to organize field trips

  • Assisting with organizational processes

Art Museum

There are plenty of activities related to the Arts in South Florida. Here is a list of activities that you may enjoy on a regular basis and free of charge. Please contact the museum to find out about virtual programming and to verify that they are open.

 

Visiting museums can get expensive, particularly if you take the whole family. But 

many South Florida museums have free admission at least once a month 

and some schedule special activities on those days.

 

Bass Museum of Art

IDEA@thebass is free for children and adults the last Sunday of every month, 2-4 p.m. Activities include art projects, scavenger hunts, and prizes. 

 

The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science

offers a free planetarium show at 7 PM and hands-on activities and demonstrations for kids from 7:15–8:45 PM on the first Friday evening of every month.

The Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International 

University’s Modesto Maidique campus is always free. One Wednesday of the month, there is a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. with a lecture and a chance to meet artists. 

Gold Coast Railroad Museum

Free the first Saturday of the month except in March when the museum hosts the popular Day out with Thomas. 

Lowe Art Museum

Admission is free on Donation Day, the first Tuesday of each month. A free gallery tour is at 1 p.m. 

Miami Children’s Museum

Free the third Friday of the month from 3-9 p.m., with interactive activities and crafts. You can also explore hundreds of bilingual, interactive exhibits related to art, culture, community, and communication. 

Perez Art Museum

PAMM Free Second Saturdays feature hands-on activities for children and adults as well as guided tours, guest artists, films, performances, and more. Every Second Saturday program explores artwork on-view in new and engaging ways, aimed at inspiring visitors of all ages. Admission is free all day, with art-making from 1-4 pm.

 

The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA)

Galleries are open by donation the last Friday of every month from 7 -10 p.m., with 

free jazz in the courtyard at 8 p.m. Jazz at MOCA is South Florida’s longest-running free outdoor jazz concert series. 

 

Wolfsonian-FIU

Free every Friday from 6-9 p.m, often with films, talks and café drinks specials.
